Golden Eagle Park

H+K Architects was commissioned to design three concession buildings, a maintenance building, and two types of shade structures for the City of Sparks’ new Golden Eagle Regional Park. The overall park project was designed by MIG and it is the largest public works project in the history of the City of Sparks. The state-of-the-art facility is situated on approximately 140 acres and features 1.4 million square feet of artificial turf — the largest single installation artificial turf project in North America. The park is designed to accommodate the diverse needs of sports enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels and will meet the increasing demand for sports fields for years to come. In response to the rural context of the park, the buildings and shade structures utilize a subtle mixture of differing colored split-faced CMU and rust-colored metal roofing mirroring the vernacular of old stone ranch buildings prevalent throughout northern Nevada. Common utilitarian roof shapes echo the images of past barns and outbuildings. The main concession building includes concessions, restrooms, pro shop, conference room, and an upper-level tenant space for a future restaurant.
