Northern Nevada Transitional Housing Center
The Northern Nevada Transitional Housing Center (NNTHC) provides a replacement facility for the existing Northern Nevada Restitution Center. The function of this facility is to help reintegrate inmates into society toward the end of their period of incarceration. This project houses a minimum-security facility with male and female residents who are either employed or seeking education.
The building design has several key goals: create a physical space for lodging, meal preparation and the programs necessary for the sustenance and personal development of residents; provide a safe environment for residents, visitors and staff; buffer the visual and acoustic attributes of Kietzke Lane and Second Streets; and provide a visual barrier between on-site resident activities and the surrounding neighborhood.
