DAVIDSON MATH & SCIENCE
UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, RENO
EDUCATIONAL
The Davidson Mathematics and Science Center is the new centerpiece of the College of Science, providing room for 6,000 math and science students.
Besides creating more lab, classroom, and office space, the new building houses a 464-seat auditorium that is available to the entire university for speakers, symposia, and special events. Because 80 percent of all UNR students will take core curriculum classes in the building, the vision for the Davidson was to create a science-centered space that fosters exchange and collaboration between students from every discipline on campus. The ELEMENTS Café on the first floor supports the many spaces available for student collaboration throughout the building.
The building includes 27 modern laboratories, each with the capacity for 20 to 24 students, along with four large classrooms, each with the capacity for 75 students. The building imagery blends modern laboratory features with details and materials that complement the traditional brick buildings common on campus.
