DONALD W. REYNOLDS REGIONAL FOOD DISTRIBUTION CENTER
FOOD BANK OF NORTHERN NEVADA
CIVIC
The Donald W. Reynolds Regional Food Distribution Center is the headquarters for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. This 61,000 square foot building includes warehouse storage and distribution, as well as administrative areas in two distinct zones.
The 42,000 square foot warehouse has high-bay storage shelving systems and features drive-in coolers & freezers, in addition to numerous sorting areas. The administrative area is an open office concept to encourage collaboration and sharing of ideas. The building also contains meeting and team spaces, along with a kitchen to allow for educational programs on food preparation and nutrition.
The building architecture responds to the differing types of functional spaces. The warehouse portion includes concrete tilt-up panels and a long span roof system. The warehouse receives natural daylighting through abundant skylights over the storage shelving systems. The administrative spaces are housed under a sloping roof, creating a high volume space with light monitors. A mezzanine provides additional work and conference space within the two-story volume. The two components are unified with a bright paint scheme and a large glass curtain wall allowing visual transparency between the public spaces and the warehouse.
